how to go about donating to The American cancer society instead of wedding gifts? I still want to give favors?
I want to donate to the American Cancer society because there are so many people (both of my grandparents- ovarian and leukemia) my fiance mother and my great aunt (Breast Cancer). I want to donate to these in lieu of some gifts for us. I still want to give out favors to my guests! Does anyone know how you would go about doing this? Is there a way to use a "bridal registry" type of deal to make it easy for guests to donate instead of buy anything for us?
You can state that in your invitations that you would prefer if people would donate to a charity that is close to the both of you. Although I have read that it's not quite proper to do that, it might be easier than letting your close family and friends give out those details if your friends and family don't travel in the same circles or see each other much. You can find a way to say it graciously though and don't be afraid to let people know you really have everything you need for houseware gifts, but still thank them anyway. You might want to briefly mention why the American Cancer Society is so close to your heart and they will be happy to make you happy!
